The GPSTran is designed to provide a digital speed pulse output for use by other equipment. Because satellite GPS is used to measure speed, the GPSTran is suitable for use in many applications where normal speed sensing methods will not work. The update rate of the pulse output is 5Hz with an accuracy of ±0.1kmh. The Pulse per meter setting is configurable to suit most applications.

Example applications include telematic systems, speedometers for boats, general speed logging, taximeters, and agricultural.
