VBox Lite

The VBOX II Lite uses a 5Hz GPS engine, and utilises removable compact flash cards for storage. Many vehicle tests can be carried out using the VBOX Lite, and it is ideal for Magazine type testing, and also for circuit analysis. The VBOX Lite uses interpolation on the 5Hz GPS data to obtain a 20Hz logging rate.

The VBOX II Lite can be connected directly to a laptop for analysis in real time allowing acceleration figures, braking distances, and laptimes to be obtained.

Alternatively the compact flash slot can be used to record up to 8 hours of data (using the supplied 32mByte card). A PCMCIA card reader is supplied to transfer the data to a PC.

Note that the VBOX II Lite cannot connect to any of the external CAN peripherals apart from the Multifunction display.

The VBOX II Lite comes as a kit with the VBOX II Lite logging unit, antenna, cigar lighter adapter, serial cable, compact flash card (32mbyte), PCMCIA compact flash adapter, VBOX Windows analysis package, manual and padded carrying case.

Log Channels

The following parameters can be logged simultaneously at 20Hz:

  • Time
  • Velocity over ground (kmh/mph)
  • Lateral acceleration (g)
  • Longitudinal acceleration (g)
  • Heading (degrees true north)
  • Distance (metres)
  • Latitude (minutes)
  • Longitude (minutes)
  • Height (meters/feet)
  • Vertical velocity (kmh/mph)
  • Satellites

Outputs

  • CAN
All parameters - 1Mbit default (adjustable).
  • RS232
    All parameters - 115200 baud.

There are two different types of display that can be used in the vehicle, see displays for more information.
